Cold Shot Chillers 3 Ton water chillers are made in the USA and are among the most durable and dependable chillers on the market. We offer 3 Ton chillers in air-cooled or water-cooled configurations. We offer a wide range of leaving fluid temperatures from 20°F to 70°F to handle virtually any heat load application. Flow designs such as stationary, portable, and reverse flow are available to accommodate the facility requirements.
The 3 Ton model ACWC-36-Q includes a single stage hermetic scroll compressor. A non-ozone depleting refrigerant is used. R410A refrigerant is an environmentally friendly gas to provide effective and reliable cooling.
The term “portable” means the chiller includes the refrigeration and hydronic components all within the same footprint of the chiller. This is the closest thing to “plug and play” as it gets. Simply provide power and plumbing to tie your new chiller into your process. Casters are available upon request if you need mobility.

A “stationary” chiller refers to any chiller that does not include a pump or a tank. The chiller relies on an external tank and pump to deliver 2.5 GPM to 3 GPM per ton to provide adequate heat removal. Air-cooled chillers are typically located outdoors due to the amount of heat which is expelled into the atmosphere.
A 3 Ton model ACWC-36-QST chiller will usually have separate controls for the chiller and the pump or pumps, with an electrical connection for each component. We recommend the controls be wired together, to prevent the chiller from going into cooling mode without the pump circulating fluid through the evaporator.
A 3 Ton air-cooled “stationary” chiller includes a single stage hermetic scroll compressor. This is the simplest and least expensive type of compressor as it operates at only one speed. We specify an environmentally friendly R410A refrigerant. This type of refrigerant is widely used for residential and commercial applications.

A 3 Ton model ACWC-36-QRF will come with a 3 HP hermetic scroll compressor, stainless steel copper-brazed evaporator, and stainless-steel centrifugal pump. A “reverse flow” portable chiller refers to a chiller that does not have an internal tank. The chiller is normally located near the external tank to provide a positive head pressure to the chiller pump. This alleviates the need to prime the pump prior to operation. The returning chilled fluid can be routed back to the tank or teed off to go out to the process before returning to the tank.

Water-cooled chillers, such as our model WCWC-36-E, provide heat removal capabilities indoors typically near the process. Water-cooled chillers reject less heat in the atmosphere and offer a low noise rating. Overall a water-cooled chiller unit will typically consume less energy, which can lead to savings on energy costs and consumption.
Our 3 Ton water-cooled chiller relies on condensing water source to remove heat from the chiller. The water source can be geothermal, cooling tower, or other chilled water source. A single stage hermetically sealed compressor is used with a stainless-steel copper brazed evaporator to chill a 25-gallon insulated stainless steel atmospheric tank. All fluid contact surfaces contain non-ferrous metal to provide a clean closed-loop chilled fluid circuit.

A Cold Shot Chillers “reverse flow” chiller will include a centrifugal pump suitable to handle a wide flow and temperature range. Our 3 Ton model WCWC-36-ERF requires two separate water sources to function properly. We require and external tank to chill the fluid for the process in which heat is to be removed. The other water source is also external from the chiller and is typically a cooling tower, geothermal or some other body of water to remove heat from the stainless-steel copper brazed condenser. The condensing water can be as high as 85°F and still provide optimum cooling capacity.
“Reverse Flow” chillers are also commonly used for ingredient mixing applications. They are also used in agricultural applications used to feed all types of plants while maintaining a consistent water temperature.
