Cold Shot Chillers 20 Ton model ACWC-240-E water chillers are made in the USA and are among the most durable and dependable chillers on the market. Our 20 Ton chillers can be configured in air-cooled or water-cooled to meet your site-specific requirements. Flow designs such as stationary, portable, and reverse flow are available to accommodate virtually any heat removal application.
“Portable” is a reference that is commonly used among chiller manufacturers to describe a water chiller that includes a refrigeration circuit, an internal tank, pump, and evaporator all within the framework of the chiller. This is the closest thing to plug and play. Most portable chiller units are never moved once installed.
A model ACWC-240-E air-cooled water chiller features a hermetic scroll compressor which is relatively quiet due to the limited amount of moving parts. A R410A gas is used as it is considered non-ozone depleting and an environmentally friendly refrigerant. A stainless-steel copper brazed evaporator is used to remove heat from the process and provide chilling capabilities down to 20°F. The unit weighs approximately 2300 lbs. in total with dimensions of 88” L x 40” W x 70” H.
A “stationary chiller” refers to any chiller that does not include a pump or a tank. The 20 ton air cooled chiller unit includes a condenser and evaporator which work together to remove heat from an external tank or trough. The chiller can accept water or a mixture of glycol up to 50% concentration. Some field plumbing is required to connect the tank and pump together with the chiller unit to function properly.
Our model ACWC-240-EST will typically have separate controls for the chiller and the pump(s), with a separate power connection for each component. The controls should ideally be wired together to allow the pump to start circulating before the chiller enters cooling mode.
A 20 Ton stationary chiller employs a maintenance free hermetically sealed scroll compressor. This type of compressor is considered very durable under various heat load conditions. The 20 ton air cooled chiller contains R410A refrigerant for effective and reliable cooling. The evaporator for this unit is made of stainless-steel plates brazed with copper and built to last. The unit has a dry weight of 1000 lbs. with dimensions of 89” L x 40” W x 46 ½” H.
A “reverse flow” portable chiller is a term that describes a chiller that includes the refrigeration components and a centrifugal pump. This type of air cooled chiller is configured without a tank. Reverse flow chillers are typically located near the tank storing the heat transfer fluid to promote a positive head pressure to ensure the chiller pump is continuously primed.
The 20 ton chiller, model ACWC-240-ERF, contains a hermetic scroll compressor and R410A refrigerant for effective and reliable cooling. The evaporator for this unit is made of stainless-steel plates copper brazed and is compatible with a wide range of heat transfer fluids. The unit weighs approximately 2,300 lbs. with dimensions of 88” L x 40” W x 70” H.
Cold Shot Chillers manufactures a 20 Ton model WCWC-240-E water-cooled water chiller. The chiller includes non-ferrous fluid contact components such as a stainless-steel 80-gallon tank, centrifugal tank, evaporator, copper piping and fittings.
A two-stage tandem 20 HP hermetic sealed scroll compressors are used to handle a wide range of heat loads. The water-cooled portable water chiller system uses a R410A environmentally friendly refrigerant.
A water-cooled condenser is used to remove the heat from the chiller. The water source can be a cooling tower, geothermal, or building chilled water supply. The condenser can accept condensing water temperatures up to 85°F.
The 20 Ton water-cooled water chiller has a dry weight of 1100 lbs. and a wet weight of approximately 1,766 lbs. The chiller measures 64” L x 42” W x 53” H and is built with long-lasting performance in mind.
Cold Shot Chillers, 20 ton model WCWC-240-ERF, reverse flow chillers do not include tanks due to their use of an open loop cooling system. Heat is exchanged from the external tank through the evaporator built into the chiller base. Heat from the process travels from the heat transfer fluid into the evaporator and transferred by way of the refrigerant through the water-cooled condenser. The incoming condensing water removes the heat from the chiller. This process is continually happening while the chiller is in operation.
The 20 Ton water-cooled water chiller measures 64” L x 42” W x 55 ½” H and weighs approximately 1,000 lbs.
